TERTIARY, because the Religious professes the Rule and Life of the Third Order Regular of Saint Francis of Assisi;


CAPUCHINS , the Congregation is in harmony with the Franciscan Capuchin Order ( 7/19/1905 ) in spirit, name, and habit;


OF OUR LADY OF SORROWS, not only to distinguish the Congregation from other possible Tertiary Capuchins but because of the devotion of our Father Founder to Our Lady of Sorrows and the Congregation and her mission is entrusted to Our Lady’s intercession.

TC The symbolic letters stand for Tertiary Capuchins.

The Holy Spirit, always active in the Church, prompted to Spanish Capuchin Friar Luis Amigó and Ferrer to found our Congregation on the 12th of April 1889.


As one of the many branches of Franciscan Family, we observed the Holy Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, living in Evangelical Poverty, Consecrated Chastity, Filial Obedience, and in Fraternal Community.


We grow in love incarnating the attitudes of our Spiritual Models – Good Shepherd, Our Lady of Sorrows and St. Francis of Assisi. They are the masters of the spiritual Amigonian life; occupy, then, a determining role in the configuration of our own being and acting.
